A Healthy Renal Diabetic Diet:



Diabetes is a disease, which occurs due to the body's inability to produce insulin. In some cases of diabetes, the body produces insulin, but is unable to utilize the produced insulin. As a result, glucose is not properly absorbed by the renal tubules and this may result in increased blood sugar levels.



Therefore, the body may start passing glucose through the urine even though the blood glucose level is normal or low. This condition is known as renal diabetes.



Though renal diabetes is a benign form of diabetes, but if left untreated may result in various other renal complications. In certain cases, it may also cause renal failure (a condition in which the kidney of a person stops functioning).



Therefore it is important to keep the renal diabetes level under control to avoid such severe complications. For this, you will be required to follow a routine exercise regimen and a healthy renal diabetic diet.



Ensure that your renal diabetic diet includes all the essential nutrients. Protein is essential for normal functioning of the body. However, if you are suffering from renal diabetes, restrict the protein intake to about eight ounces per day. Similarly, the renal diabetic diet has to include food items that have low carbohydrate or cholesterol content.



Your renal diabetic diet may include fresh vegetables such as beans, pumpkin, bitter vegetables, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cucumber and cabbage. However, it is a known fact that, too much of anything is harmful, therefore try to limit the servings of these vegetables to about two servings per day.



Similarly, it will be beneficial if the renal diabetic diet includes three servings of fruits such as apple, grapes, sweet-lime and apricot. Sweets, processed and fried foodstuffs have to avoided.



Thus, following a proper renal diabetic diet will always keep the renal diabetes under control.
